LGSL is looking forward to another exciting Softball season. You are welcome to tryout even if you are not certain about accepting a position on the team.

Additional Information:
How many spots available? Tryouts are for all 10U BLAST team spots (approx12-14).
What is BLAST? BLAST teams are the Litchfield Girls Softball "tournament travel" All-Star teams. Last season we had 1 teams in the 10U division and one for 12U division. In addition to the Babe Ruth/ASA BLAST program.
Who is eligible? All girls who are registered to play in the Litchfield Girls Softball League (LGSL).  Players must play on a 2019 LGSL Regular Season Softball Team.
Can Girls "play up"? Yes, younger girls are eligible to try out for an older division (i.e. an 10U girl can try out for 12U BLAST).
Who makes the team? The BLAST teams are more competitive than the recreation league teams, and the girls will be selected based on skills, dedication, and coach ability. Roster sizes will be limited to allow maximum playing time for all participants.                                                                       Who conducts the tryouts? The tryouts will be overseen by the 10U/12U BLAST Manager, however, players will be evaluated by former BLAST coaches with no current connections to the team to avoid any concerns of conflicts or bias.
Is there added cost? Yes, to offset costs of uniforms, equipment, and tournament fees, an additional registration fee is required. We will do fundraising activities (including running a tournament) to keep costs at a minimum.
What are the commitments? BLAST participation requires a commitment from both the player and her parents. In addition to LGSL recreation league play which is required, participants are expected to attend additional BLAST practices, as well as 6-8 tournaments from May to early August. Practices will start after tryouts, but it is understood that "in season" sports take priority over “off season” Softball Practices (i.e. Basketball commitments in the Winter).
Tryouts Format? Tryouts are intended to run much like the Softball Clinics and LGSL assessments. I encourage you to have your child treat these as focused practices, not spotlight pass/fail events.

Thank You

Kevin Brown
